Log Cabin Days

Continuing a long-standing German tradition, St. Nicholas always makes a stop at the Pioneer Museum in Fredericksburg on the first Saturday in December to fill the stockings of boys and girls at the annual Kinderfest. Children are invited to hang their Christmas stockings over a large hearth in anticipation of a visit from St. Nicholas. Children will enjoy singing, story-telling and making a craft!  At the end of the party, children get to see what surprises have been placed in their stockings.

Kinderfest depicts the German tradition of putting out shoes on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. Good children received nuts, fruit, and candy, while naughty children might find a switch or a lump of coal.

Kinderfest is free to all local and visiting children ages 10 years and younger, accompanied by a parent.
