Share a visit with St. Nicholas.

What is Kinderfest and why do we celebrate it? Continuing a long-standing German tradition, St. Nicholas always makes a stop at the Pioneer Museum in Fredericksburg on the first Saturday in December to fill stockings of boys and girls at the annual Kinderfest. Children are invited to hang their Christmas stockings over a large hearth in anticipation of a visit from St. Nicholas. Children will enjoy singing, story-telling, and craft making! At the end of the party, the children can see the surprises that St. Nicholas put in their stockings.
Kinderfest depicts the German tradition of putting out shoes on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. Good children would receive nuts, fruit, and candy, while naughty children would find a switch or a lump of coal.
Kinderfest is free to all local and visiting children, who are up to 10 years old and are accompanied by a parent.
