Teachers can use these lesson plans which have been aligned with the Texas History Social Studies TEKS for Grade 4 and Grade 7 as resources in planning a trip to the museum. The questions are based on displays and exhibits at the Pioneer Museum and the Vereins Kirche in Fredericksburg, Texas. Teachers whose schools do not visit the museum could also adapt the activities to their local history.
If you are a Texas teacher, you can incorporate Fredericksburg, Texas, history into your lesson plans. The Teacher’s Packet, TEKS Related Lesson Plans, for 4th and 7th grades are available.

Evelyn Weinheimer, our program director and retired public school teacher, has developed a Texas history curriculum for 4th and 7th grade students in collaboration with District 13, Texas Education Agency that conducts teacher in service training. She plans to bring teachers with their classes to the Pioneer Museum so they can experience history from a museum perspective. This month in preparation for the program ten teachers visited the Pioneer Museum and Ms. Weinheimer oriented them to the resources available for future visitations.
