Beginning in 2005, the Gillespie County Historical Society (GCHS) crafted a vision of a transformed Pioneer Museum that would “share the cultural panorama of the Texas Hill Country through entertaining, interactive experiences that enlighten and inspire.” An intense period of planning produced an exciting Master Plan. The Plan included the restoration and reinterpretation of the historic structures, new construction, expansion of the Museum’s programs and services, and upgrade of operations to meet and exceed the expectations of visitors. The historic Dambach-Besier House completes the successful first phase of the Master Plan.
