GROUP AND SCHOOL TOURS:
Let the Pioneer Museum be your ticket back to early Fredericksburg. Docents will guide your group through the history of Fredericksburg as you examine buildings from a variety of time periods, from the early 1840's to the 1920's. Learn of the early settlers' challenges after leaving Germany, as they carved out a future in an unfamiliar environment.
Celebrate their accomplishments through the structures they created. See some of the typical furnishings, tools and treasured mementoes. Pause a moment in the shade of the pecan trees and reflect on the contrasts of “the good old days” with your lifestyle today.
Group Tours: $4.50 per person, 15 paid admissions minimum to receive the group rate.
School Group Tours: Gillespie County school groups are free for the basic tour; schools outside of Gillespie County pay a $3.00 per person fee with one complimentary ticket per each 10 students.
German Meal: The German Meal is offered by itself or in conjunction with the tours. The menu includes Opa's sausage, German potatoes, sauerkraut, bread, dessert and tea. The fee for the all-inclusive meal is $15.00 per person; meal deposit is due open reservation.
Hands on Activities: For an additional $3.00 per person, you can add hands on activities to your tour. We offer activities such as: rope making, quilting, games of yesterday, one-room school lessons, churning butter, seed art and making cornhusk dolls.
Two Museum Sites: Your single ticket purchases a tour of the Pioneer Museum complex located at 325 West Main Street and also Vereins Kirche in the center of Markplatz. The two museums are close enough for a “good stretch of the legs” with many interesting shops along the way.
The mission of the Pioneer Museum is to share the cultural panorama of the Texas Hill Country through entertaining, interactive experiences that enlighten and inspire.
