Willkommen to the Pioneer Museum, owned and operatedby the Gillespie County Historical Society (GCHS), that celebrates a unique Texas Hill Country community created by early settlers for future generations.
Immerse yourself in the life of Fredericksburg through exploration of historic structures, authentic objects, photographs, and much more.
The GCHS and Pioneer Museum are working together to create a shared narrative of Fredericksburg, Texas, history. The GCHS manages historical collections from donors. The Pioneer Museum complex brings the collections to life. Visitors can walk through "real life" early Texas structures and view exhibits demonstrating early Texas family life, education, professions, and culture.

Located on three acres, the museum complex is landscaped with plants native to the Texas Hill Country. Frequent activities and educational programs enliven the visitor experience for all ages.
A twenty-six foot tall lighted Christmas tree will be the setting for a volunteer community chorus to present a free family concert Friday and Saturday evenings at 6:30.
The tree was purchased with a grant from the PCAA in its efforts to expand free community arts celebrations. Grants from HEB and Walmart also provided funds for decorations.
The one-hour concert is scheduled for the outdoor wagon yard on the grounds of the Pioneer Museum at 325 W Main. Both the main entrance and the side gate at Milam Street will be open.
A 65-voice chorus led by Jeryl Hoover will provide traditional music, which will include German carols and sing-alongs.
Those coming are asked to bring their own folding chairs.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors to the Historical Society Sanctuary.
