Our Founders Day Celebration takes place annually on the 2nd Saturday of May, which is the month of Fredericksburg's founding and the birth month of our founder, John O. Meusebach. It’s held in two places. First, at 10:30 in the morning on Markplatz near the Verein Kirche, descendants of Herr Meusebach lay a commemorative wreath near his bust. Then those who wish can follow the caravan to the cemetery for another wreath-laying at a memorial honoring the original band of 120 who first arrived from Germany. Following that we have activities on the Pioneer Museum grounds from noon-3pm, including stories by descendants of the founding families, games and activities for kids and adults, music, food, and general good community fellowship. It is a time set aside for those with deep roots and those who have been here only a while to join together in hearing and celebrating the extraordinary story of those who came before us to make this place so special. Founders Day Celebration is an event for the whole family, and admission is free.
