Share a visit with St. Nicholas.
Every December, come experience a local Christmas tradition. Children are invited to hang a stocking on the Kammlah house hearth for St. Nicholas to fill. Enjoy singing, story-telling, a craft activity, refreshments, and perhaps even a visit from Santa Claus!

What is Kinderfest and why do we celebrate it? Continuing a long-standing German tradition, St. Nicholas always makes a stop at the Pioneer Museum in Fredericksburg on the Saturday, December 10, 2025 from 9:30 - 11:00am to fill stockings of boys and girls at the annual Kinderfest. Children are encouraged to bring their own stockings and must be accompanied by an adult. Children can hang their Christmas stockings over a large hearth in anticipation of a visit from St. Nicholas. At the end of the party, the children can see the surprises that St. Nicholas put in their stockings. Children will enjoy singing, story-telling, and craft making. Admission is free to all.
Kinderfest depicts the German tradition of putting out shoes on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. Good children would receive nuts, fruit, and candy, while naughty children would find a switch or a lump of coal.
Kinderfest is free to all local and visiting children, who are up to 10 years old and are accompanied by a parent.
