About the Pioneer Spirit Award . . .

Since its founding in 1935, Gillespie County Historical Society has been blessed by the support of many wonderful people and organizations that have helped to build and sustain the Society. The Society is mindful and deeply grateful for that support over these many years.

In 2014, the Board of Directors of the Gillespie County Historical Society instituted the Pioneer Spirit Award to annually recognize individuals and/or entities that have made significant contributions toward the fulfillment of the Society's stated purpose and mission, "To preserve and tell the story of the Texas Hill Country".
